Cancellation and billing: what verified customers report
The newest entry in our verified-mention set: customers cancel, receive confirmation, and then find one more charge on the next cycle. Refunds arrive, customers report, but only after a follow-up email or ticket.
This article expands one of the three verified gripes behind our Salesforge sentiment score of 2.9/5 (240 verified mentions, March-September 2026). The scoring method is on the methodology page; the pricing picture is on the pricing page.
The pattern
The newest entry in our verified-mention set: customers cancel, receive confirmation, and then find one more charge on the next cycle. Refunds arrive, customers report, but only after a follow-up email or ticket.
Why it happens
Subscription billing systems charge on anniversaries; a cancellation processed mid-cycle can race the next charge date. When the charge wins, the customer sees a bill for a service they already left. It is a solvable problem - most SaaS solve it - but our mention set shows it recurring for this vendor.
What to do if it happens to you
Document the cancellation confirmation with a timestamp. Dispute the charge with the vendor first, and your card issuer if the vendor does not respond within a billing cycle. Under typical card-network rules you have 120 days from the charge to file.
How we weight it
Billing gripes appear in roughly 15% of our verified mentions for this vendor - enough to be the third-ranked gripe behind load times and pricing opacity, not enough to dominate the sentiment score on their own.
The verdict
Not a scam - a process gap. But in a category where trust is the whole product (you give the tool your domain's sending reputation), process gaps in billing do not inspire confidence in the rest of the machinery.
